Emergys Bretagne: Three innovative projects supported by Technopôle Brest-Iroise, device winners

In Brest, Technopôle Brest-Iroise is currently supporting three projects from very different fields: L’Autre Vie, a platform for animal bereavement support; Lovures, a supplier of fresh, local yeasts for breweries; and NEREIS, designer of a biomimicry-inspired underwater wing. These three promising innovations illustrate the wealth of ideas incubated in Finistère. These three innovative projects benefited from the Emergys Bretagne scheme, led by Bretagne Développement Innovation and deployed in the Breton technopoles.

Emergys Bretagne: an incubator for innovation

A regional scheme dedicated to innovative business creation projects stemming from public or private research, Emergys Bretagne aims to secure the initial development phases of technological startups. Thanks to the support of the 7 Breton technopoles, project leaders benefit from strategic advice, individualized monitoring, access to expert networks, and financial support from the Brittany Region. NEREIS: flying underwater with the DeepFoil

The NEREIS project, led by Paul François, naval engineer and doctor in hydrodynamics (IRENav – Naval School), proposes a bio-inspired innovation: the DeepFoil, a one-meter wingspan wing that allows the diver to propel themselves underwater with fluidity, without ballast.
Conceived following work on the biomimetic submarine HYDRONEF, this wing compensates for the buoyancy of the human body and allows exploration of the depths with a sensation of flight. Entirely recyclable and produced locally using 3D printing, the DeepFoil opens the way to a more intuitive, sustainable, and sensory diving experience.
